Education & Training Dr. Askren graduated Cum Laude from the Georgia Institute of Technology where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. He received his Master of Science degree there, as well, studying laser applications in ophthalmology. After attending medical school at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Askren completed his General Surgery Internship at Emory University. Following six years of surgical training at The University of California San Francisco Fresno – Central San Joaquin Valley Medical Education Program, he completed a residency in plastic surgery at the University of Alabama in Birmingham with Dr. Luis Vasconez and others – all pioneers of modern plastic surgery. His educational emphasis was on aesthetic face, breast and body surgery.
