Dr. Ascherman is Site Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery and a Professor of Surgery at Columbia University Medical Center. He earned his B.A. from Harvard University and his M.D. from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons, where he was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed both his general and plastic surgery training at Columbia, followed by a craniofacial fellowship in Paris.

An accomplished plastic and reconstructive surgeon, Dr. Ascherman has authored more than 75 scientific articles and book chapters and has presented his work nationally and internationally. He is an active member of leading professional organizations, including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, and the Northeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons, where he previously served as President.

Recognized as one of America’s Top Doctors by Castle Connolly and listed multiple times in New York Magazine’s Best Doctors, Dr. Ascherman is widely respected for his expertise. He is also committed to humanitarian efforts, having participated in numerous surgical missions across China and South America to provide life-changing care for underserved patients.
