Dr. Marguerite Aitken came to plastic surgery with a foundation in the art world, where her love of anatomy and the human form first led her to work as a medical illustrator. After several years illustrating complex surgical procedures, she discovered her true calling in plastic surgery—a field that combines artistry with medicine and allows her to bring joy to patients through transformative care.
Dr. Aitken joined Plastic Surgery Associates in 2004. She completed her undergraduate training at the University of Michigan, then earned her medical degree from Northwestern University in Chicago. She went on to complete her plastic surgery residency in the Grand Rapids/Michigan State University program, training under many of the colleagues she now works alongside at PSA.
Following residency, Dr. Aitken pursued additional advanced training in highly regarded programs around the world. She gained specialized experience in facial cosmetic surgery in Atlanta, Georgia, studied complex reconstructive microsurgical techniques in Belgium, and refined her expertise in body contouring in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Patients appreciate Dr. Aitken’s unique background in both art and medicine, her precise surgical skills, and her compassionate approach to care. She continues to merge technical expertise with artistic vision, helping patients achieve natural, confident results.
